Four leaders have been killed--Brightstar of ValleyClan, Redstar of LakeClan, Ghoststar of MountainClan, and Gingerstar of StreamClan. During each murder, only two cats were there; the killers/deputies—Leopardfang of ValleyClan, Lynxclaw of LakeClan, Scarleg of MountainClan, and Nightface of StreamClan—and the targets….or so they thought.
During the four murders the traitors had thought they were alone with their leaders, but they were wrong. An apprentice from each Clan spied on the murder of his or her leader, and when they saw what happened, they told a warrior from their Clan, and the news quickly spread. The four deputies were banished, and four warriors were promoted to leader: Lionheart of ValleyClan, Falcontalon of MountainClan, Spiderlegs of LakeClan, and Sharkfang of StreamClan.
The four ambitious, murderous exiles, unaware at how similar they were, meet and hatch a plan; they will join together, find others like them, and form RevengeClan. At the same time, the four Clans of Nature are enjoying the start of Newleaf, unaware of the horror that will break upon them soon, like a tidal wave upon a beach.
One more thing remains; each of the traitors had one kit while they were still with their Clans, and of course now no one trusts them. The apprentices must work to earn their name and respect from their Clan, but each apprentice is hindered by the horrible memories of the day he or she was spying on their leader and parent, and will always have flashbacks of that final death-bite.
We are starting from the point right after the deaths of the four former leaders. Lionheart, Falcontalon, Sharkfang and Spiderlegs have not gone to the Stones of the Stars to recieve their Leader name and their nine lives, so they are called by their warrior names for now. They are each banishing the murderer from each of their Clans.
